Teenager Killed in Head-On Collision

A teenager was killed in a car crash in Webster County this weekend. The 17-year-old girl died, on Saturday night, at approximately 10 p.m.

The other motorist, also in the accident, suffered injuries as a result of the two car accident that happened three miles west of Ford Dodge. Iowa State Patrol was able to identify the, Sommers, girl but hadn't released her name yet so the family could be notified.

The girl was traveling westbound on D-20 when she lost control of the vehicle on the ice covered road. Crossing the center line she crashed head-on with an eastbound vehicle that was driven by a 23-year-old, of Gowrie.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene of the car accident. While the driver was transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge so his injuries could be treated. The accident is still under investigation.
